RLSGA Foundational Premarital Counseling: Two Ways We Can Prepare You for Marriage

Most couples don’t struggle because they don’t love each other. They struggle because they didn’t take time to build the skills, agreements, and emotional foundation that marriage requires. Premarital counseling isn’t about having the “perfect” relationship—it’s about learning how to handle real life together with clarity, honesty, and a plan.
In my practice, premarital counseling is structured and practical. We don’t just talk—we build. You’ll learn how to communicate when emotions are high, how to repair after conflict, how to deal with family dynamics, how to make decisions about money and responsibilities, and how to protect closeness over time. I also take a trauma-informed approach, because many couples are trying to build a future while carrying parts of the past they haven’t fully healed.
Because couples’ schedules are real (and life is busy), I offer two clear pathways. Both are effective—your choice depends on what kind of pace and structure fits your life.

Step One for All Couples: The Premarital Assessment
Every premarital couple begins with an assessment session. This is where I learn your relationship story, your strengths, your pressure points, and what you both want your marriage to look like. We identify the patterns early so we can create a plan that fits your goals—not a generic checklist.
Premarital Assessment (90 minutes): $225
After the assessment, you’ll choose one of the two pathways below.
Optional Add-On: Prepare/Enrich Assessment (Highly Recommended)
Some couples want more than conversation—they want data. If you’d like an additional layer of clarity, you can add the Prepare/Enrich assessment. It’s a research-informed relationship assessment that highlights strengths, growth areas, and potential pressure points so we can work with real insight instead of guessing.
Here’s how it works:
You complete the assessment through the Prepare/Enrich website and pay directly through their platform.
The results are sent to me, and I incorporate them into our premarital sessions or intensive package.
We use your report to target the areas that matter most to your relationship and build a practical plan.
Prepare/Enrich is optional, but it can be especially helpful if you want a more customized roadmap, if you’re blending families, navigating differences in conflict styles, or you simply want a more structured process.
Pathway 1: Traditional Premarital Sessions (Weekly or Biweekly)
This option is best if you prefer a steady pace and you like having time between sessions to practice skills and process what we’re learning. We’ll work through key areas step-by-step, and you’ll leave each session with clear takeaways and homework that supports progress at home.
Premarital Sessions (55 minutes): $200 per session
This pathway works well for couples who:
Want consistent touchpoints and support
Prefer smaller chunks over time
Are navigating ongoing stressors and want time to integrate changes
If you choose this pathway, Prepare/Enrich can be added to personalize our focus and accelerate progress.
Pathway 2: The Premarital Intensive Package (For Couples Who Want Momentum)
Some couples don’t need months of weekly sessions—they need focused time, strong structure, and clear outcomes. The intensive format is designed to help you make real progress faster and reduce the scheduling headaches that can come with weekly appointments.
This is not “two sessions back-to-back.” Intensives are a different format: more time, more structure, deeper completion. We can move from insight → agreements → action plan in one sitting, then build and refine between meetings.
The Premarital Intensive Package includes:
3 Intensives (2 hours each)
1 Integration Session (90 minutes)
A clear, structured plan and agreements you can actually implement
Package Investment: $1,850 (includes the $225 assessment)Payment options are available.
This pathway is best for couples who:
Have demanding schedules or rotating days off
Want deeper momentum and fewer total appointments
Prefer structured “work sessions” with clear outcomes
If you choose this pathway, Prepare/Enrich can be added to make our intensives even more targeted and efficient.
What We’ll Cover (Premarital “Plus” Topics)
I use a “premarital plus” approach, meaning we address the full picture—not just communication. We cover 13 essential areas of marriage preparation, including things like communication and repair, expectations and roles, money planning, family dynamics, intimacy, and long-term connection. The exact focus is tailored based on your assessment and your goals as a couple. You won’t just “talk about” these topics—you’ll build agreements, identify patterns, and learn what to do when life gets real.
Which Option Should You Choose?
If you want steady support over time, choose the traditional sessions. If you want focused momentum and clear structure, choose the intensive package. Either way, the goal is the same: to help you enter marriage with clarity, emotional safety, practical skills, and a plan that protects the relationship you’re building.
